DESCRIPTION:This summer in Detroit Lakes experience “The Good Life” with artist Kent Estey’s exhibit “Mino-Bimaadiziwin” – vibrant acrylic\, oil\, and ink paintings expressing the colors and emotions of the land and sky and the beauty of our region. \n\n\n\nBeginning May 1\, you can see the full collection in three locations through Labor Day weekend: \n\n\n\n• Becker County Museum (714 Summit Ave) – Original and prints of acrylic\, oil\, and ink paintings \n\n\n\n• Ortenstone Gardens & Sculpture Park (28499 Randolph Rd) – Large scale print reproductions along the Aspen Overlook Trail \n\n\n\n• Washington Square Mall (808 Washington Ave) – Even more large scale print reproductions \n\n\n\nThe exhibits will remain open during each venue’s operating hours. \n\n\n\nKent Estey is a multi-medium Anishinaabe artist\, author\, and speaker from the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe in Northwestern Minnesota. DESCRIPTION:Sound & Stage Production Camp \n\n\n\nAges 5th grade & up\, space is very limited \n\n\n\n$100\, members receive a 10% discount \n\n\n\nStep behind the scenes and discover what it takes to run a live show! In this exciting three-day camp\, students will explore the world ofsound and stage production while learning the essential skills used in concerts\, performances\, and community events. \n\n\n\nThe first day\, campers will meet at the Becker County Museum from 1pm-4pm for hands-on experience with professional production equipment. Students will learn the purpose and function of key gear such as microphones\, speakers\, mixing boards\, cables\, and stageequipment. They will also practice proper setup\, safe handling\, and basic troubleshooting while gaining an understanding of how sound systems and stage production work together to create a successful event. \n\n\n\nDay two\, students will take their learning into the real world by meeting at the City Park to assist with load-in for alive community show. If Campers want to experience a full production (load-in and load-out\, support basic production tasks\, and see firsthand how a live event comes together from behind the scenes) they should plan to stay until 7-8pm Exact times willbe TBD once the tech riders are received. Campers should plan to bring a water bottle\, and pack supper. \n\n\n\nDay three\, students will meet back at the Becker County Museum from 1-4pm to discuss what was learned\, any challenges that presented during the production and take away thoughts. \n\n\n\nThis camp is perfect for students interested in music\, theater\, technology\, or live events and offers a unique opportunity to learn real production skills while participating in an actual community performance experience.
