Weather Policy

To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, the museum may shut down during severe weather conditions. Any changes to admission hours will be communicated through Facebook and our website as soon as they are confirmed.

Science Center FAQs

What is the Science Center?

At our Science Center, children engage in hands-on learning through interactive exhibits that spark curiosity and foster critical thinking. With a focus on STEM topics, kids can explore, experiment, and discover the wonders of science while having fun through play.

What footwear do I need?

Street shoes are just fine for the Science Center. During winter, snow boots are not allowed; please consider bringing an additional, dry, pair of shoes with. Non-slip socks are available for purchase at the front desk.

Can I bring food and/or beverages?

Only water and mother’s milk or formula are allowed in the Science Center.

Who supervises the Science Center?

Visitors are required to supervise the children in their care while enjoying the science center. The museum staff member or volunteer is present to provide an additional set of eyes and ensure that exhibits remaining in working order.

Is there a place to store my things?

There are coat hooks on the first and second floor of the museum. There are additional storage cubbies available at the entrance of the Science Center. The Becker County Museum is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

What are the rules/expectations?

The primary expectations for the Science Center are as follows:
-Children must be supervised by a caregiver at all times
-No food or drink in the Science Center
-No running or roughhousing
-Keep items in their correct areas
-Clean up and reset your area before moving to another

What is the Exhibit Hall?

Also known as the History Floor, our Exhibit Hall is where you will find traditional museum exhibits on our local Becker County history.

Why is this called the “no touch” floor?

Many of our artifacts in the Exhibit Hall are so old that they are fragile. Please help us preserve these artifacts for future generations to enjoy by not touching them. Did you know that the oils from our hands can damage artifacts over time?

Where do the items on display come from?

Items in our collection have been donated to the museum by various individuals and organizations. Occasionally we display special artifacts or exhibits that have been borrowed to us by other historical entities.

Do the exhibits change?

Yes! We try our best to rotate the items on display. We do this not only to keep things interesting for our visitors, but also to help preserve our artifacts. Continual exhibition can damage an artifact overtime due to light, temperature, dust, and human exposure.

Visitors are welcome to take photos and videos in The Becker County Museum for personal use only. Any photo, film, or video shoots for commercial purposes require prior permission. The museum regularly captures images and videos for promotional use.

By purchasing admission, you consent, on behalf of everyone in your group, to be photographed and included in promotional materials. You grant the museum permission to use these images or videos for educational, marketing, advertising, and other purposes that support the museum’s mission.
